Reasons 15-28

So, after I broke off our two week relationship, the school year came to a close and we kept in touch over summer.  We actually were on an off again 3 more times that summer, always in 2 week intervals.  I could handle him two weeks at a time and that was about it.  Late in the summer, after we were officially done "dating" as we called it back then (even though we had no money or way to go anywhere together other than school or church), we both took a trip to San Diego with the church youth group.  On that trip we took a very long memorable walk on the beach and talked about how we would remain friends.  If you were to ask my husband about that San Diego trip today, and ask him what he remembered about it, I am certain he would bring up that walk on the beach.  It is something neither of us ever forgot.

Okay, I am a little behind so I am going to list 2 weeks worth of reasons this week.

15.  His body radiates heat making him a human heating blanket.

16.  He loves, loves, loves Disneyland and will go anytime.  We have taken several trips to Disneyland each year since we were married.

17.  He is very talkative on the phone and in person.  You don't have to carry the conversation.

19.  He leaves funny, long messages on the answering machine giving me time to find the phone and answer it.  However, sometimes I'm actually not home and I just get a really long comical message.

20.  He brings us all little treats when he stops at the store...he will bring me ice cream or chocolate, he will bring each kid something they enjoy.

21.  Although he prefers action movies and Star Wars, he will watch a chick flick with me anytime and then make fun of me for crying.  He believes that all chick flicks end at the airport with one person chasing after the is actually quite true a lot of the time.

22.  He reads bedtime stories to my 5 year old every night.  He did the same for the now 15 year old, but she has outgrown the need.

23.  He is a really good driver and does all the driving on long trips, etc.

24.  He is willing to stop off and pick up anything I need at the store or anywhere else with almost no warning.

25.  He never complains about a mess in the house.  If something he needs isn't clean, he will just wash it.

26.  He can talk just like Goofy.

27.  He persevered with me through several years of infertility and all that comes with it.  Although our infertility was on my side, he never mentioned it in a negative way or acted as though it bothered him.

28.  He changes dirty diapers.

Reasons 8-14

In my first post, I mentioned that I met my husband when I was 11 years old.  A couple of people took note of that fact so I thought I would elaborate just a bit.  My husband and I met on the first day I transferred to the Christian School he attended for many years.  He later shared with me his first thought when he saw me: "Finally, there is a pretty girl at this school."  However, it wasn't love at first sight.  For most of our seventh grade year, Jason, who I refer to as Jay, made it his mission in life to irritate me.  He was quite successful.  Once, he volunteered for hot lunch just because it was my day to work hot lunch and when it was time to take out the trash...he followed me to the dumpster where he managed to help me drop my trash can into the dumpster and then told me to climb in and get it...of course I made him retrieve my trash can.  Did I mention he is a real joker?  I wasn't as amused by it back then.  I suppose I had to acquire a taste for his humor, which is now one of things I love most about him.

By the end of the year, I had a crush as well and Jay became my "boyfriend."  My father caught us kissing on the street corner once on the way home from school.  I was 12 by then, a real  I would lock my kid up if I caught her kissing a boy at 12.  Our two week relationship came to an end after I realized that he just was not mature enough for me.  Then began our lifelong friendship.

I'll share more of the story next week.

So the next 7 reasons I love my husband include:

8.  This week, I took a picture of my husband on Saturday, his day off, and posted it on FB.  It was a picture of him sitting on the floor in our room and our three youngest, including 9 month old twins, climbed up into his arms.  He is patient and attentive.

9.  He loves to serve the Lord through playing piano on our church worship band and cultivating relationships with other members of the worship team.  This service and these relationships cause him to grow.

10.  He NEVER watches sports (well, maybe an occasional UFC match...but rare).

11.  He is ALWAYS willing to go shopping:-)  The grocery store, the mall, pretty much wherever I want to go other than baby/kid clothing stores.

12.  He is not a couch potato or homebody...he likes to be on the move.

13.  He does all the yard work...he always has.  He never asks me to help, other than to watch the kiddos while he does it.  I never offer...I hate yard work.

14.  He challenges me to go outside my comfort zone.  Example one: all my life I refused to go on several of the rides at Disneyland including Pirates of the Caribbean and all the mountain roller coasters.  He refused to coddle that kind of behavior and I now love all those rides...well, except one that he lets me get away with since I tried it over and over and never got used to it.  Example two:  since being married to him, I now eat many foods I refused to even try most of my life.  When we were first married, I used to mostly order grilled cheese when went to a restaurant...that is not the case now.

365 Reasons I Love My Husband Challenge

365 Reasons I Love My Husband

This is my very first fact, I never intended to blog but only read the blogs of my friends who share links on their FaceBook pages.  As I was reading one friend's blog recently, I began clicking on icons that interested me.  Before I knew it, I was reading a challenge posted by The Atypical Housewife to blog 365 reasons why you love your husband.  This sparked my interest so much that I set up this blog page just to post my reasons.  Blogging is foreign to me and I don't know how to design a fancy page.  I am not particularly interested in blogging about specific interests as many do...I merely felt that I needed to take her up on this challenge in 2012 to list 365 reasons why I love my husband.

I have been married 13 years now and we have had many ups and downs.  Through it all, the Lord has shown Himself faithful to my husband and me.  I would like to honor Him and my husband by listing 7 reasons I love my husband each week of 2012.

Here we go:

1.  He makes me laugh, and laugh, and laugh...sometimes to the point of tears.  My husband has an amazing sense of humor.

2.  I met him when I was 11 years old and 25 years later, he is still so very attractive.

3.  He makes me feel safe when I am with him.  He has a black belt in martial arts and I am confident he could protect our family in a dangerous situation.

4.  He is a loving, playful daddy to our four children.

5.  He is the yin to my yang...I am the type A personality, nerd accountant with a strong need for structure...he is the fun-loving, free spirit who is not embarassed to make a fool of himself...even when we are in public.

6.  He is always on my team...right or wrong...he has my back.

7.  He is loyal.
